Rock 'em Rumble is a multiplayer arcade boxing game inspired by the '60s toy, Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots.
My role in the team was level design. Designing the 3 main boxing arenas to play in, all with their own quirks and obstacles.

The boxing ring level is designed to be a standard level where the player can get used to the controls. For this reason I only included one level specific mechanic
In the corner of the ring there are buttons which can be used to activate punch traps in other corners of the ring
I felt that the traps would look and work better coming out of the floor, but it was a team decision to not overwhelm the player on the 1st arena

The second level is set in a scrapyard, full of derelict cars, junk and spikes.
There were a couple of mechanics used including a claw that hovers over the arena dropping cars onto players during the match.
This arena allowed me to work on broadening my skillset. Creating VFX using Unreal's Niagara System, and creating numerous materials in Adobe Substance Painter

The third and final level in our game was the disco floor. It’s inspired by 70s and 80s disco culture.
If features disco floor panels, each colour with a different effect. When the disco ball drops, players get a good surprise or a bad one depending on what colour they are stood upon
Effects include speed boosts, teleportation and a glove trap springing from your chest!

Boing-oing-oing!
